A pseudo-Kufic legend around a central pellet and circle, ‘al-malik Rujjār al-muʿtazz billāh’ (‘King Ruggero, Strengthened by Allah’ in Arabic); illegible margin in pseudo-Kufic. Rev. At the sides of a cross on a long shaft, ‘IC – XC / NI – KA’, the abbreviated form of Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς νικᾷ (‘Jesus Christ conquers’ in Greek); illegible margin in pseudo-Kufic. MEC 14, 202. Struck slightly off center and with areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.
